TAKE INTO YOUR BUYING BRIEF
Three things to record
| Check | What to request |
|---|---|
| Required item | Describe the function in plain language |
| Evidence | Photograph, demonstration or applicable record |
| Result | Confirmed, absent or still unverified |
Write the must-have list first
Separate essential equipment from preferences such as colour or wheel appearance. Describe the function needed, not only the name used in a sales advertisement. For example, a customer’s phone connection requirement is more useful than an unspecified premium multimedia request.
The generation guide keeps the production and source-market context clear. Preserve the original trim designation and applicable configuration record so another person can trace the specification later.
Choose evidence that fits the claim
Use clear current photographs for visible equipment and operating demonstrations for functional requirements. A picture of a control does not prove that every linked function is enabled. Record the vehicle reference and date with the evidence.
Ask for clarification where the specification mixes standard equipment, options and accessories. Identify aftermarket additions separately, including any available installation information. Do not describe a modification as factory equipment merely because it resembles a brochure photograph.
Check cabin and digital functions
Test the language and phone functions the customer intends to use. Separate offline controls from services that depend on accounts, subscriptions or regional access. A demonstration should identify the actual vehicle and the device used.
The cabin guide adds passenger and luggage checks. Seat operation, rear-seat comfort and usable boot access deserve practical evidence, especially when a vehicle is being selected remotely for another person.
Keep assistance features accurately described
Identify the assistance hardware and the supported functions from applicable records. Preserve operating limitations in the customer description. A familiar system name is not a promise of autonomous operation or identical functionality in every market.
Include unresolved items in the quotation review before acceptance. If an essential function cannot be established, keep it unconfirmed or seek a different candidate. Do not allow an attractive trim label to close an unanswered question.
A simple evidence register can include the required function, original equipment description, supporting file and date. Update the register when the candidate changes so the commercial team can see which confirmations must be obtained again.
Example: the same trim name, different equipment
Two listings use the same English trim label, but only one shows evidence for the customer’s required seat adjustment and phone connection. Ask the other seller for equivalent evidence and original version information. Compare the completed records rather than counting features in the advertisements. The resulting decision can distinguish a documented difference from a translation problem or an item that remains unknown.
